Human Touch

I’ve been working for Farfetch in the F-Tech family for many years now, and one of the things that has always surprised me is the special ability F-Tech has to adapt and keep moving forward, no matter what challenges are presented to us.
And the speed has been amazing, the innovation has been incredible, the ability to find creative solutions to big and complex problems is guaranteed and the community spirit of rallying together around a common challenge is breath-taking.
At Farfetch, I’ve always witnessed different people, with different backgrounds and different opinions come together under one mission: to do what has never been done before.
Who hasn’t faced issues during sales season and teamed-up to quickly overcome them and be the best we can be? We owe it to ourselves, to our partners, to our customers.
How about now?

We live in a new reality that has surprised us all in a short amount of time. Habits had to change quickly, new working methods have been rising, new technologies are being assessed, and every day there’s a new and unknown challenge to face.
What has never changed, and I hope it never will, is the positive outlook of all the teams, all the good moods and all the fun we have had, by making the most out of this situation.
Farfetch has always been a company based on relationships. We breed ideas over a cup of coffee, while working out with colleagues, or by discussing an interesting challenge over a slack message. All the good we have been building has been built on top of these relationships.
And now, these relationships are more important than ever. We are all humans, and we are all in this together!
I began by writing about how F-tech teams are coping with the current situation and how our modes of working are changing.
But to be honest, I don’t want to write about remote tools or even methodologies. I want to write about team spirit, team ownership, sense of urgency, sense of importance and sense of mission.

I want to write about how all of F-Tech has been rallying together, supporting Business and Operations teams, helping our partners globally and teaming up with other Tech initiatives around the world on COVID-19 aids.
I want to write about how teams stick together during hard times and come out even stronger. I want to write about how people are currently sharing humorous messages on slack channels and Whatsapp groups.
I want to write about whole families working at their homes while teaching their kids at the same time. I want to write about those "trapped” alone in their homes and how they schedule virtual drinking parties or coffee breaks to mingle with their teams.
I want to write about how incredible we are during these times and how we are staying strong!
In my daily routine, I speak with dozens of different people during the day - hundreds by the end of the week. I wish I had the words to describe how much strength, determination and sense of kindness I’ve been finding.
Humanity always finds a way to adapt, we are no exception, but the spirits are so high that I can only feel proud to be part of this family and this company.
